2001 V702.3t Coolant level

Post by mibirney »

My indicator light is showing that there is low coolant please stop engine asap but after looking at the coolant reservoir is full. This started happening immediately after I attempted to charge the AC system. This was one day ago and the first time the light came on it was actually low on coolant but after topping it off the light never went off. Wondering if there is something I may have disturbed when moving the coolant reservoir and power steering reservoir out of place to charge the AC.

Additionally the AC charge did not solve the lack of AC, and the pressure reading was way in the red. I was told by numerous people that was because of lack of r134a but after dumping a whole can in there with no cold air and no reduced pressure I am not sure what to think. My car has 185000 miles on it and 3 years ago had a cracked head gasket which after being fixed and failing 9 months later I used a product called steel seal which worked. Not sure if any of the additional info is pertinent but what the heck.

Thanks for any help

OK - thats a lot of stuff going on!!

1 Your coolant level sensor is probably stuck down. Give the reservoir a couple of taps (don't gorilla it) to see if it will free up, otherwise replace.

2 Measuring pressure in an AC has to be done with the system equilibrated at 2000 rpm, 15 minutes running, AC compressor cycling. Otherwise the pressure measurement just tells you there is some R134 in the system, basically

3 Head repair isn't too relevant to these two problems IMHO
