AC Power outlet not working on 2003 V40

I just bought this wagon from a Volvo dealer last week. I went to charge a cell phone and found that the AC Power outlet on the shift column does not work. My son and I are guessing it is a blown fuse. Could it be anything else? Like a wire unplugged to it? I need it to plug my GPS system into and would like to diagnose it at home as soon as possible. I also need to verify the exact location of the fuse box. Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

You have two fuse boxes on that car, one in the passenger compartment under the dash on the left hand side and the other in the engine compartment.

I assume you mean the DC power outlet just in front of the gear lever.

I think the power outlet in question used to be a cigarette lighter. If that is the case then it is fuse #2 in the passenger compartment box (20 amps).

My 17 year old son was able to get in the fuse box and locate the fuse that sources the DC Aux Outlet. I was indeed blown. The cover housed an extra fuse. It was about a 10 minute job. Thank you so much for the tips. It would have cost some $$, if I were to have taken it to a dealer. Thank you billofdurham!!!

I had a same problem. Checked fuses they were fine. I pulled off the gearshift cover and found the cigarette lighter unplugged.
