So Mr. Ozark Lee,
Please assist this neophyte technician. I have a 3/8" drive socket set with various extensions
and I have a full set of metric sockets that fit the 3/8" drive. What exactly is a long 1/4" extension?
I assume the swivel socket needs to be the size of the bolt head, whatever that might be.
As you face the windshield, which side of the car (pass./driver's) is closest to the #1 cylinder.
Why don't the bolts need to come out completely? You can't remove the manifold if bolt threads are still engaged, right?

The bottom "holes" on the intake manifold are in fact slots, not holes.
Once the bolts are eased, the manifold will lift off.

I should have been more specific, I should have said 1/4" drive and the long extension I use 12" long. A 3/8" drive is a bit too fat to thread through the webs in the manifold. As Abscate said, the bottom "holes" are slotted. The bolts do need to come all the way out to change the gasket but they can be removed and then replaced after the manifold is out of the way.

Any chance this job will be a little easier on a naturally aspirated model car?

No need to remove the whole intake manifold to replace that elbow. I've got big ham fists and I just removed the top radiator hose to get there. If you've got. Dainty hands or your wife lol it's easy.

drgswede1978,
Well you just made my Thursday.
"Big Ham fists" got a laugh from me. Actually I have skinny fingers and not such big fists so maybe
I have a shot. I really couldn't believe i had to take that whole manifold off.
Do I need to purchase this whole kit? or just buy the gasket and elbow?
