Steering wheel swap

Post by 2002V70 »

I am looking to upgrade the plastic steering wheel out of my V70 to the leather wrap one. My question is what wheel will fit this car? The V70 steering wheel will obviously fit, but the X90 steering wheel looks very similar if not the same. Anyone can confirm or deny this?
Thanks,
Lou

You might consider a wheel skin. I did this to my otherwise skinny steering wheel last year and have been very pleased. It gives it the girth and firmness in a steering wheel I was looking for and covered up the "peeling paint" and otherwise discoloring issue my steering wheel was having:

Here is where I got mine, for about $40: http://www.ipdusa.com/ProductsCat.aspx? ... RootID=629

I think I came to my own conclusion and an XC90 wheel will not fit. It looks like I might try an S80 wheel. It appears the same and is easier to obtain than the V70 wheel.
Anyone out there has tried this before?
Thanks,
Lou

I just bought a 2010 S80 and hate the wood steering wheel. I happen to already have a 2006 wood steering wheel and airbag that I would like to swap out for the 2010. Will this work?

Will it fit or will it work?

You need to cross reference part numbers meticulously. Modern Volvo steering wheels have control buttons, many a computer module, an airbag and a clock spring. Everything needs to work.
