2006 C70 alternator is dead

Post by Msprouse »

I received a power failure message on my 2006 C70 yesterday just before the car completely died on the side of the road. I replaced the battery today and was able to crank and move the car to my house, but it appears (on a volt meter) that the alternator isn't generating any power and everything is struggling to run off of the battery. I know that it could be the charge regulator, but I've opted to just replace the alternator (which will be delivered in the morning). Since I'm going to replace the alternator, I tried to remove the old alternator tonight and quickly ran into a wall. My question for this forum is, how do I get the alternator out without dismantling the entire front end of the car? It seems to be very snugly buried deep under hoses and housings with no way to bring it up or down. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
