1997 850 5dr air conditioner wont cool
In my 1997 850 station wagon body, my air conditioner just blows out hot air. I was told to recharge it, so I did and it worked for a day or two than wont work again. I have a child and being out in 106 degrees is not good for either of us. I need to know a easy way to fix things because I do not know anything about this car when it comes to repairs.

The most common AC break is clutch gap wear which stops the AC compressor from turning when requested by the control unit. The internal gap adjustment (with shims) is expensive but the "bread clip fix" is not.
The next failure is evaporator core leakage. This is a 100 usd part but the dash had to be taken out to replace...about 8 hours of labor, so it is a 1000 usd job

If it was a clutch gap problem then recharging it would not have done anything.
Unfortunately, this is almost certainly a leaky evaporator core.
