I had the problem codes read and I have the following:
P0133 - Oxygen sensor circuit slow response Bank 1 Sensor 2
P0440 - Evaporative Emission System
P0116 - Engine coolant temperature sensor 1 circuit
Range/Performance
I guess I'll be asking as to where to begin. Many Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

I guess you need to search for the solutions to those codes and decide if you will fix them yourself or have someone else fix them.

Do you have any running problems?
The evap code is probably a leaky hose or gas cap. It won't affect driveability.
The 02 sensor code is probably pointing at a tired O2 sensor. If you have over 100k on the car, it's time to replace them.
The ECT lives under the thermostat..check the wiring and plug for corrosion.the sensor does go on these cars and will give you starting and running problems too. The car needs extra fuel when cold so if the sensor or wiring sends bad info, the cars floods out with too much fuel.

Try resetting the codes and scan again later on. I've had the coolant sensor code once, reset it, drove the car for 3k miles and still no signs of that code returning. I also get the evap code once in a blue moon but once reset, it take a couple of thousands miles to pop up again. I'd say check the mood of the codes and their appearance and then decides but my first move would be towards a new oxygen sensor.

P0133 - Replace your O2 Sensor - most likely the upstream one. I used a Denso 234-9020 for mine (rather than the Volvo OEM that was MUCH more spendy) and it has worked great.francisp wrote:I had the problem codes read and I have the following:

P0440 - Check for vacuum leaks. This could actually be what is tripping the O2 Sensor code.
P0116 - Erase codes and see if it happens again. Could have been a fluke.
That's where I'd begin.

Just a quick follow up: I disconnected the battery and left it off for about 10 minutes. After reconnecting it, the CEL is obviously off. Now let me see if it comes back any time soon. If so and the P0133 and P0440 code pops up again, then I'll change the O2 Sensor. So far I'm at 200+ miles and it's running smoothly.
