2004 v70 heat coming from floor board?

I am having some heat coming from the floor board (accelerator pedal area) The A/C blows out the vents as normal but I have some heat coming from the floor....... is it a rubber grommet from firewall to passenger area that came loose? I have not had time to look into this yet but want to be prepared of what i'm up against

that could be the rubber boot at the steering column that goes through the floor. heat from near the exhaust area could go inside the car. it has to be clipped in place to the floor with a large clip spring.

On P80s the heater core pipes run right by your right foot, and either the cover removed there us a lot of heat generated there, I haven't looked at my P2 yet to tell if it is similar.

My first guess would be faulty exhaust(clogged cat) gets really hot if theres an issue. If u feel the heat directly from floor board a loose firewall grommet doesn't make sense, u would feel heat blowing on ur legs not a burning floor board...this is real dangerous if it's ur exhaust(usually clogged/defective cat).

Wouldn't a clogged cat set some code (like cat efficiency or something, you do not necessarily need to have the MIL on).

More than likely. Also you'll have some rattle coming from the cat. What is on the other side of floor board where you feel the heat? And are all the shields in place under there?

1. One quick way to locate the heat source is using a temperature gun with instant reading (I got one for $12.50 at Harbour Freight). You want to turn off the blower and look for the warmest spot(s).

2. I am also thinkng of a possible malfunction of the temp. control damper (like staying partially open when commanded to fully close). Have you eliminated that?

If/when it gets really bad the o2 information should eventually activate CEL but in the meantime I would look in that area rather then looking @ firewall grommets for burning floor boards.
