Hi:
I have a 2000 V-70 with 38K miles. At low speed i.e. when the car just starts moving, there seems to be excessive vibration. I can also reproduce it, if I hold the brake and give some gas.
Any hint? The engine mount is in a decent condition.
Thanks
Nick

How about the lower mounts? Is it skipping? Does it vibrate when in park and you rev it up or just in drive?

Just when I start (the first second or two) - it is smooth when the speed picks up...
Thanks

How are the wheels and tires? A flat spot on either can cause a vibration.
Breake Rotors?
Is there a roaring sound also? This could point to a bad wheel bearing.
It is difficult to trouble shoot over the internet...
Good Luck,
T

Hell yea it is. Maybe one day I'll have a video-upload feature, so we can see and hear these problems. It is difficult to trouble shoot over the internet...
I'd agree -- lower engine mounts, out-of-round wheel, unbalanced wheel.
Although with a lower engine mount you'd probably notice some movement when shifting from R to D etc.

Nick,
I'm interested to see what yours turns out to be. I've just recently replaced my lower right mount and upper mount to see if it would help the vibration in the steering wheel, but it made no noticable difference. I also get a big "kick" in the steering wheel when the car first starts. The vibration I have isn't major, just annoying. When driving, I feel the engine vibration, especially when I turn slightly, like a small correction on straight-line driving. Mine seems much smoother when coasting. I don't think, based no what you've described, that your problem has anything to do with brakes, since you would notice a definite wobble/pulsing braking when you apply them if it were warped rotors, etc. Sounds like you feel it when you accelerate/raise the idle speed.
Let us know if you find what it is. Likewise, I will post the answer if I finally crack the problem.
Good luck!

I am taking it to the shop today - they are gonna replace the lower mount. Thanks for all the suggestions. I will let you know if this fixes the problem (the technician said he wouldn't be able to guarantee it)
