98 v70 engine identification

Post by 98v70dad »

I am wondering exactly what engine is in my car. It's the original engine, 5 cylinder, non turbo but since I bought the car used I don't know the displacement. I am about to start doing some preventative maintenance and it would be good to know the exact engine when I'm ordering parts online.

Your engine will be a B5254S series.
The first number denotes the number of cylinders. The next 2 denote the capacity in litres. The last number denotes the number of valves for each cylinder. In North America Volvo only sold the 4 valve 2.5 litre 2435cc in 1998 for non turbo installations.
Current cars VW Transporter 2.5TDI, 2010 XC90 D5 R Design
