Get a rad from a Volvo supplier and you'll be fine.

I replaced mine last year with the Nissens 8601356 (1997 855-T5, auto), it was thinner than the original. No issues with cooling whatsoever.
You will need some longer screws though - I found I needed to replace a couple of the screws as the tabs were further away from the bodywork (at the top of the rad, from memory - they have captive washers?) and the factory screws were too short for the new rad.
Do remember to order a Volvo Auto Trans Oil Cooler Hose Seal Kit as well.

allright. think ill go with the aftermarket then.. still 3x cheaper than original and same price as a used one. but more suggestions is welcome.
Thanks for the tip.
What is the best way to flush the system since its oil in it now? is there any special cleaning fluids?

I have spoken to people that installed cheap after market rads only to destroy their transmission in less than a week. I recommend you purchase a rad from a Volvo parts supplier so you don't run into that issue.
Not sure if any flush will get the oil out 1st try. You will likely have to try a few times. If oil floats back into the bottle, try to soak it up with a paper towel or something.

I sourced my Nissens item from FCP Euro. My trans has not been junked.
I've used prestone cooling system flush, but never to remove oil. Is it engine oil you're looking to clean out of your cooling system?
Regards
