99 S70 front end totalled

Car was hit head on at a stoplight, we were sitting and some nut turned left into us. Front was pushed in to the engine, but the engine itself was still running fine, so it seems to be all body/radiator. Needs new hood, headlights w/wipers, bumper, grill comes with hood I guess, whatever is crumpled underneath etc. Side panels?

I'm assuming insurance will declare it totalled.
Option 1: I buy another that I can afford with the money they give me. I doubt I'll get much. I'd love the S70 back, but would like to get the V70 for more trunk as its our vacation car. I've done alot of work on the car using this forum including the wonderful dash rebuild.

1) What is reasonable price for V70 of that year or maybe a few years newer? For instance should I stay clear of 99 S70 turbo with 93k going for $3000? Seems low to me.
2) I hate to part with it since everything else is fine, does it seem realistic to buy it back for the few hundred and salvaged title to use for parts or to resell for the engine/tranny or something?
3) I've got a couple of the same model/year at the junkyard around the corner in good shape. Is it worth it to use all that for parts and rebuild it in all my free time?
4) I imagine I can find everything to rebuild every piece through this site, but not having examined the car yet, can you think of a reason I should not bother with this?

Option 2: There is a 99 S70 in a town 45 mins away in excellent condition but the tranny went. There's a local volvo guy I'm trying to get ahold of to see if he'd take the tranny from the old car and put it in the new car, and maybe he can keep the old car with good engine to trim the install costs. If I don't get enough through insurance to come out ahead considering repair time and towing I probably won't go with this option.

Open to all input, highly revered mechanics. You've saved me tons already and made my volvo experience great so far.

Get insurance check, probably around $2000-$3000.
Make sure you get all your stuff before they tow it away (spare tire, jack, odds and ends such as radio, climate control panels etc.).

Don't waste your time rebuilding it.

Get a 1998 model.
1998 is a much better year than 1999.

When my old Accord got hit, they paid me and I fixed it. They paid me almost what they would have gave me if they were to write it off. If your not handy though, this is not an option for you as getting someone to fix it is hugely expensive when it comes to body work.

Sorry to hear this. It's a nightmare for anybody who has spend considerable time and money on their old Volvo. Good thing the airbags didn't deploy.
This insurance thing is always so confusing to me. Can't you get it back from the insurance before they scrap it? If that's the case you could either fix it or part it out.

Seems pricey for those wagons. For reference, I paid $1300 for a 1998 V70 with 214,000 miles. Of course I am going to have to replace the PCV system (at most $150 and my labor) and I put in a new blower motor (used on eBay for $40 shipped). But the car had 4 new tires, a brand new radiator and a brand new ABS module. There is a 2000 V70 on Craigslist in the DC area with 96,000 for $3000 and another with 130k for $1850.

I would take a straight 99 or 2000 over a scrubby 98. The PCV is better but do avoid the infamous 2001 automatic

Yay geico! They gave me 3750 which is 500 over retail for low mileage - 130k! I won't bother buying the old one back ($550). Just rather be done with it. HATE scrapping the car though.

So I think I'll be in good shape to get something I'd like. I think I'll just stick with 1999 v70, it'll serve us as well as its sedan counterpart. The only difference is the body right?
