2005 S40 2.4i rear brake pad question

2005 S40 2.4i rear brake pad question

Thanks to MVS I was able to do a 4 wheel brake job (pads & rotors) on my 2005 S40 2.4i this weekend.

The only problem I encountered was the rear aftermarket braket pads were too thick & I had to file them down, not hard to do but unexpected. My question is why do they make the brake pads too thick? Are the Volvo OEM pads a better fit? Everything is working fine I'm just wondering why.

How much did you have to file them down? I've never had to do so
