Post by dawe »

Hello, I have problem with low beam lights. When I was starting engine, lights only flashed and turned off. Only parking lights working now. I was trying to find problem. I controlled fuses, bulbs. Everything with this looks well. I have tried to remove headlight switch, but it fall apart to 3 parts. Firstly i cleaned contacts on wires. Next I wanted to put it back, but I dont know how, dont know these 2 parts what to do with them (in attached images). Please can u help me with fixing it?

You will need to remove the switch, from the rear of the dash, to try to reassemble it. Chances are the tabs are broken and it won't stay together without some kind of glue.

As far as where the pieces go, you will just have to play with it. Normally just finding places where the pieces fit, like a puzzle, will get you there if you have all of the pieces.

The path of least resistance is, of course, to replace it with one out of a salvaged car.

From looking at it I would guess that the smaller part with the spring is what makes the switch stop in the three positions. A detent of sorts. My guess is that it fits, spring first, into the back of the knob somewhere.

I can't really see where the lamp would fit up since there are already two lamps in place. Maybe that isn't even a lamp, I can't tell from the picture.
