Considering buying a 2.5T XC90

Post by shanegtr »

Hi guys, Im considering buying an XC90, mainly a 2.5T. Im steering away from the T6's as I've read they like to eat gearboxes. Any common faults to be on the lookout for with these? Im fairly familiar with my old V40 now but I know nothing about the XC90 in general

Get the 2.5T, I have it and love it.

If > 100K miles, make sure you replace the timing belt, mechanical tensioner and idler pulley.

I have been thrilled with my 04 XC90. Upgraded from an 850 wagon, which was becoming hard to get in and out of!

The XC90 was found with a bad motor (teenager + spring break + no oil = cheap price!) Original sticker in car was 44K, I have slightly over 3K in it! 125,000 miles! about 60,000 miles on the '08 S80 2.5 replacement motor! It is an AWD which I would not have chosen. But after engine replacement, and getting the "boogies" out, it has been wonderful! 10 year old body design that is as stylish today as it was then!
