2005 V70 transmission issues

I have a 2005 v70 base model,121k, with the 5 speed automatic transmission that I purchased used 9 months ago with 113k. There are a couple of annoyances regarding the drive train that I would like to share with the MVS community and hopefully get some knowledgeable feedback.The first issue is that when shifting into drive from P R or N,the transmission "clunks" twice quickly rather just the usual once when engaging. It shifts and drives normally once engaged, but it is just something that I have to be aware of before moving as it is a much rougher shift if you are trying to move before it is engaged. The other thing is the intermittent noise which can best be described as a bad CV joint noise when accelerating from a dead stop. Thinking it was a bad axle, I replaced both sides with new FCP aftermarkets,but the noise still occurs occasionally. Looking forward to hearing from the MVS community... Steve

The trans shifting issues are exactly the symptoms of the bores worn in linear solenoids in valve body.

The noise needs more description.

Thank you for the reply.Your description regarding this in another post is exactly what is occurring. May leave this to a pro as equipment and knowledge wise this may be out of my league. The other noise is best described as a "clacking" that sounds exactly like a failed CV axle.

Just got a good deal, now I own a Volvo. I had a clunking noise, when driving straight, over slightest bumps. First thought CV, but that's more likely to clunk on turns. Then searched this forum and found it may be the strut spring seat. Swapped out both struts today. Sure enough the front passenger ~plastic~ spring seat was broke. No noise now.
I am having minor pause/clunk when shifting into drive. Thinking of drain/fill fluid (not flushing original 2002 with 125kmi)

Have you any record of the trans fluid being changed? Using the gearbox pump to "flush" the old fluid out at 1.5 to 2 liters a time is safe but I would also drain the trans from the 24mm plug underneath the box. Keep and measure all the fluid you taKe out and only put back in (new) same amount as you remove. The correct JWS 3309 fluid makes a LOAD of difference, but if it has never been done before you need to put through 15 - 17 liters to make a difference. I did it at the first sign of trouble and all has been good since, and have joined the club that changes every 50K miles. But you will also need to reset the fluid counter and drive the adaptions, so find a forum member local with Vida/DiCE, it's essential! Good luck.
