2001 V70 transmission 193k miles

Post by candygirl14 »

Hello,

I live in Idaho and it is very hot right now, 95+, recently my v70 started running extremely rough. I was driving 2000rpm when it became rough, stopping became quite shakey almost to the point of stalling. It seems best if in park at lights, very slow acceleration, driving in 2nd feels really bumby, like driving on fatigue strips. Drives OK above 2000rpm or lower. New trans runs 3-5k, car was purchased in 2008 for only 4k. Should I try a flush? Could this be the end of my red beauty? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds more like engine (hardware around it) than transmission. Find somebody with a good code reader and read the codes.

I will do that. The check engine light does not stay on, in fact, it often blinks off/on while this is happening.

Classic mis-fire symptoms, plugs maybe a couple of coil packs.

Not easy to diagnose online, I would inspect the ignition coils (cheap used over Ebay), but I don't think that could cause the engine to stall. Make sure you have enough gas (the gauge is not very accurate).

Other things that come in mind, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, broken spark plug, sticking valve. Keep a look on the coolant level (at cold) in case there is a head gasket leak.

Timing belt I guess has been replaced?
