I'm getting a new trans filter today so I will drop the pan change the fluid and filter and see where I'm at. Here is the thing when the trans is cold the car shifts great I can drive it for 15ish mins then it slips like crazy.

I assume there is a means to do a line pressure check; I would not drive it slipping.

When I rebuilt a B23F, and slipped it into a 93-944, I renewed the AW71L's oil pump ($100.00), and installed a rebuilt torque converter ($150.00).

I know nothing of those electronic transmissions, but I would suspect either a kit and oil pump is needed, or if it has PWM, I'd check to see what it is doing, percent time, if applicable.

I have only tried to drive it around the block. It does throw a code p0740 lock up solenoid circuit open.

OK 300 miles in no cel Trans is shifting fine. I just ordered a timing belt kit. So it looks like I got lucky as hell!

Another update.

I have driven the car for about 1000 miles and plan to do another trans fluid change.

I now get a p0410 code and have found some leaky vacuum lines.

Where can I get the u bend parts for the vacuum system. I can get hose no.issues but the u bends are dry rotted and leaking as well.

Give FCP a call and they can help with all of this. Your local Volvo dealer may be able to help too. I used regular tubing to replace some of my elbows. A few are different sizes on each end. FCP is generally very helpful.

Another update.

I've drove about 2k and last night I drained the pan again 4qts. Fluid was brown so that's 3 times I have drained the pan.

while I was draining the pan I removed the negative battery cable to reset the ecu and tcm.

I also changed all the vacuum lines and checked the air pump and it's working yet I am still getting the p0410.
