Nothing earth shattering in this post, just a post.
The CE light was on. Misfires.
Tailgate panels were a mess. Door check strap was gone. No maintenance records.
I offered about 40% of what they were asking. No response, which is fine. I told them what I could give them was so low as to be far outside the "ballpark", but they still wanted my offer. I don't want to offend.

I just bought a 2000 V70 Glt (which in Sweden means B5244S, NA and 170 hp).
It was treated as every single Volvo, oil changed when due, but otherwise used as a work horse, no love... The few that were treated with the smallest amount of love are way too expensive, and often don't get sold because the owners can't let it go in the end.
I have up on finding the right one, and have been transforming my new car to the right one since I bought it. A work that is ongoing and will continue a year or two.
"33 000 mil", we say, that is 330 000 kilometers on the clock. (220 000 miles?)
Runs great though, hope it continues to do so. I bought the Dolby surround system on wheels and a steering wheel, forgot about dual mass flywheel and other things that would have needed checking before purchase.
Sorry for my rambling, but this thread didn't seem super serious
Good night!

My daily driver is a 5 speed auto 2000 V70; just clocked 307,000 kms. I keep fighting the notion of replacing it as I repair and improve the car.... it just gets BETTER to drive as time goes on. It wasn't loved prior to my ownership however engine was fully rebuilt. I don't think many other makes of car can boast this type of owner satisfaction.
Was that example a turbo Matthew?

Mike,
Nope, not a turbo. If it was, it would have been far more appealing to me. Turbo + manual P80s are extremely, freakishly rare in the US.
I'm looking for either something on the edge of scrap value — priced at the edge of scrap value, or something well taken care of — priced accordingly. P80 or P2.

i recently saw a listing for a beat-up S70 T5M in chicago for $1100, and once test-drove a less bedraggled one for $1800. 5-speed turbo cars in the wrong hands pass for peanuts because the owners don't have good access to people who want them, so if you're willing to be a little patient and take a risk on the details you can have a T5M pretty cheap.
one the most appealing things about P80s (imo) is how nicely they clean up. there's probably money to be made (and a noble cause to be pursued) in taking grungy T5Ms off the hands of barbarians, performing full stage 0 maintenance, and selling them to enthusiasts as rough-edged but turn-key cars to build off of or just enjoy. i doubt you'd make enough to make the enterprise self-justifying, but it could be fun if that's your thing.

The T5M's are slowly being killed off by Volvospeed owners...
A friend has a slightly beat up 94 850 Turbo (came that way) - I think probably beyond its prime and worth investing too much money into with 250,000+ on the [broken] odometer. It really surprises me how well the old thing picks up and goes down the road - it pulls way stronger at lower RPM than my S70 T5 does and is still fun to drive.
And, despite crankcase pressure issues that even a PCV mod can't handle...the darn thing runs freakishly well for being 20 years old.
We've re-named it the "Honey Badger".

"Welp, threw a rod through the block" (only with less correct grammar) seems to be a common theme over there.matthew1 wrote:Bought up, over-modded and run hard?jblackburn wrote:The T5M's are slowly being killed off by Volvospeed owners...
