1982 240 need help checking timing

Post by Justin »

HI, I have a 1982 240 with the turbo and automatic transmision. 340k miles, can not think of any other info. I have been giving it a tune up and replaced the timing belt and now I would like to check the timing. My wonderful Chilton's guide (1982 version and does not cover the turbo engine) says to "unplug the vacuum line". I am assuming off the distributor? I was wondering if anyone could tell me which line to unplug. Thank you.

Yes, unplug the distributor vacuum line (or lines as some early '80's Volvo's had vacuum advance and retard line going to the distributor) and then check the timing.
