Never been tuned, steering is super tight and only OE parts (except the Meyle HD sway bar links and front axles) have been used on the car. It’s been garaged full-time and hasn’t seen Winter at all under my ownership. I will include the original 10psi ECU as well. Climate control works flawlessly with no error codes, A/C is perfect. Set it to AUT + 72º and it’ll do everything for you. An absolutely ridiculous amount of money has been put into this car and it drives like it. The steering is tighter and sharper than any P80 car I’ve ever driven, and the engine is super smooth and quiet with the new exhaust system. Every single thing in the car works, every bulb works, every function works. Boost comes on just like it should, and the Forge CBV makes a nice little sound when you let off.
Back to the A/C, yes, it's perfect. There are no leaks. This isn't a system that needs a "top up" every few months. A/C systems should be sealed, if they need a top-up, they're leaking. This one doesn't. The pressure is absolutely dead-on what it should be, and has held that since the evaporator was serviced years ago under the 1st or 2nd owner's care.
The condition is probably 8.5/10 if I had to rate it. The front bumper has some low scuffs, and the tailgate has a few touchups under the rubber trim that poke out a little bit. Overall, it's gorgeous and the paint has been well taken care of by the previous owners. It's clear that this was never a beater car, because the interior is amazing for its age. The wheels were all professionally powdercoated, and only one has a ding on one of the spokes from a careless tire shop. Other than that, the wheels are flawless.
Reason for sale? Got a 2013 VW CC and need my ’99 for winter/road trip duty. There just isn’t room in the garage for a car that will barely get driven anymore. I have the previous owner’s service history that includes most of the things I listed above but has dates and mileage - available via e-mail.
This is most likely the finest Platinum 850 on the market right now, and out of only 500 built, there aren’t bound to be many more like it. If you want reliability but love old bricks, this is the one. Come check it out, and I'll give you the grand tour.
