2000 C70 AC Hose ID

Post by hvymtlc5 »

What is the name of the AC hose (half rubber/half metal) that runs from the back of the compressor to the bottom corner (drivers side) of the condensor. I ordered an A/C pressure line from advance auto and it came with two fitting on one end - that wont fit, I only have one connection on either end.

Fcp has a nice exploded parts diagram on their website with parts named

If the hose has two fittings on either end it is the wrong part.

Yep it does. I need a single connector on both ends but don't know what the hose is is called (high pressure, suction, etc.) to search for. I didn't see an exploded view on FCP...

Definetly going to need Pag oil, but what happens if I don't replace the accumulator with this job?

From your sig you are in Florida which I guess is about as arid as the Arizona desert. :D

If you were in Arizona, you might not have any problem at all. The desiccant in the accumulator absorbs moisture which means that it absorbs humidity. Moisture in the AC system causes the refrigerant to turn acidic which can cause damage to the system as a whole, particularly the compressor.

A generalized explanation is here:

Can you skip replacing the accumulator? The answer is yes.

Should you skip replacing the accumulator? The answer is no.

The system will work even if you don't change it but I don't know how long it will work. A compressor tearing itself up does monumental damage to the system as a whole due to the metal particles getting run through the system.

Received the hose and dryer. One last question, does the high pressure hose use o'rings or is it just a press fit. None came with the new hose and I did find one on the garage floor leading me to suspect it came off the old hose, but maybe not.
