2001 V70 T5 w DSTC - replacing the ABS/DSTC Brake Module?

Post by rubbersidedown »

I have just replaced my DSTC ABS/BCM p/n 8634413 and all usual errors and typical misbehavior are gone. The used module I put on must be a little different in its SW configuration as I get a DTC BCM 0076 error code.
My independent mech says he can do a SW reload for about $130. The local dealer says they have never been able to successfully do a SW download.

Has anyone been able to swap in a used DSTC module and do a SW download to get rid of the BCM 0076 code? Please share.

I found this resolution (I hope) in a Norwegian forum: :D

BCM-0076 error code in ABS/DSTC module - How to Fix.
See Technical Journal 5735 in Volvo TIE (Volvo Technical Information Exchange. TIE is part of the VIDA purchase). Note your mech may not know this so perhaps one needs to insist they read TJ 5735 first.

1. Reset the BCM configuration to factory standards, manually done in VIDA.
2. Reload BCM software. SW cost is about $50 + whatever your mechanic charges for the time.
3. After BCM software reload, if you have DSTC, then it must also be calibrated. VIDA/Communication/BCM/Advanced/Calibration.

That's it, that should take care of it. Has anyone been able to do this and confirm it works?

BCM-0076 is error code for MY2002 and later.
8634413 that part is for MY2001 and earlier.
8634413 this module does not need software reload and does not support it.

so something in your story is wrong.
Anyway that problem can be solved.
If you have questions about Volvo firmware ask me. I may know an answer :)

Doublebug, my VIDA tells me it is a "ABS-0076" error code (DTC). The ABS/DSTC module does in fact have p/n 8634413. And car is registred as an -01. Anyhow I would be interested to take a look at the Technical Journal 5735 if anyone can pull out a copy.

You say "Anyhow that problem can be solved". How? Please explain.

Just follow VIDA Wizard for this issue (ABS-0076). Or install TeamView and contact me :)

Hello. I am pretty helpless at the moment. I got a Volvo V70 2.4 TDI year 2004.
When I got it the ABS Light was on. I went and bought a used ABS pump online. All the numbers on it are matching. Went to a garage had the car there for over 2 months. They where able to get the ABS Light off. But the now I got the message "Rutsicherung Wartung Erforderlich". Went to another guy, he hooked up his reader and there was 2 fault founds. BCM 0091 accelerator Faulty signal and 0076 control module Faulty signal. Is there anybody out there that can help me with that?
