I ended up in a bit of a pinch and needed to buy a car NOW....the biggest requirement was the ability to haul parts/tools when necessary, and I had more or less decided a small truck or van was on the list (and was inside coming to grips that I would buy something that was functional, not necessarily enjoyable). Saw a white 99 V70 base for sale and liked the look and drive, felt under-powered, but decided I could live with it...then along came a white 98 V70 T5; 280k on the clock, but maintenance records back to the original window sticker (dealer oil changes every 3k). Garage kept and babied all its life for $1200...As a mechanic you can quickly look at the way a car is kept and tell a lot about the owners and the mileage did not scare me....Dealer quoted them $4k to do the cooling system hoses, basic tune up, fix the inop sunroof/mirrors/windows, replace the control arm bushings and change the timing belt - they bought a new one.
Ignition parts will be here this coming week, Complete suspension overhaul (all bushings, eibach's, and ipd sways) next month (the control arm bushings were actually okay :D

Now all I really want is your rear spoiler and R front and rear bumpers (which give me the excuse to redo the exhaust :D )

You Can tell when a car has been well cared for. I like all the White. Very nice.

I had just picked up some white V70 door handles for the wagon.
$10. each.

They will add a little something to a '96.

I am not normally a white car person, but something about it on these just does it for me...last night i saw a bright red v70r on the highway....as much as i am not a red person either i couldn't stop staring.

The handles will look good...from looking at the pics of yours I am kind of digging the front end; I like the monochromatic look of the V's, but there is something about the shape of the 850's that is so "no compromise Volvo"
