1999 S70 Wagon Roof Rails?

Post by asummers »

I was wondering if the roof rails from the V70 would fit the S70, if they could be shortened? Does the S70 have the bolt holes under the roof side rails? I know the S70 has the roof rack bolt holes inside the top of the door jambs. But, if a custom wagon roof rail is possible, that would be nice. Saw this video on youtube about the roof rail removal.

On my 850 T5 sedan I removed the roof trims but there are no holes. I used Nutserts/Rivnits at 5mm to match the wagon screws. You can remove the ends and centre easily. A rubber mallet was used on the ends and there is a roll pin in each end. I discarded the centre mount and spaced the ends to line up with threaded holes at each door. In hindsight taking the ends more forward and rear would be the better option as the rear mount is longer and it sits high on a sedan. I hope this helps. The bolt holes are under the trim and got at from the top after removing 6 little pieces.
Cheers Steve.

I actually googled and found a picture of an 850 with wagon roof rails installed. Very interesting!

That looks better than my attempt. Mine start and finish mid door, too short. Will start again with another set and unmolested cover trims. Like I suggested, Move the front forward and the rear back and it should look sweet. Cheers Steve.
