02 v70xc Another 02 tranny problem, need advice
Ok so I bought this used 02 v70xc, 146,xxx miles. Brought it home, and during test drive, on cold tranny and previous battery disconnect it would move but had bad garage shift delays. After driving for say 20 minutes and up to full operating temp, transmission would go into some sort of emergency mode and not shift and slip like crazy barely driving anywhere. So i parked it, and started ordering parts. I replaced the 3 larger solenoids, did drain and fills, and bought a dice/did the counter reset and relearn adaptation. No change in transmission behavior, except now it doesnt want to seem to move. I tried to do the drive sequence but i didn't make it all the way through before it threw codes and went into emergency mode or whatever. Vida says S1 solenoid is stuck, i cant remember closed or open. Tranny wouldn't lock up in any gear hot, and I just tried to start and move it cold(with no battery disconnect) and it wouldnt go anywhere. I guess I'm looking for advice should i continue and replace the smaller bank of solenoids, get a new(used) tranny, or maybe just a valve body. Im only into this car for 1700 including the parts i bought, So im ok with more repair work, its a second vehicle. I know its endless the questions about 01-02 v7o transmissions, but any help will be greatly appreciated.

You need a refurbished valve body. It has wear points too, new solenoids often solve nothing.
Wife's 02 V70 shifts beautifully after a Sonnax-refurb VB was dropped in. New solenoids alone (Rostra) did nothing good. Returning old solenoids back in place also didn't bring the car back in pre-repair shape, which wasn't ideal, but at least car was drivable. Again, VB replacement sorted everything out.
