94 850 Tailgate harness

my 94 wagon got rear ended and i need to replace the tailgate, my donor is from a 97 I have looked at the harnesses and they seem identical, are they ? I dont want to swap out more parts than I have to

They should be the same - wire for wire. The schematics don't call out any obvious differences.

You may want to use the newer harness due to many of the old harness have broken wires in them preventing the rear hatch from locking with the central system.

I was going to check the wiring as mine had a bad connection, I have a 95 as well with busted glass but the connector was cut off so I will check and use the newer one, still have to paint it though

I'm replacing a tailgate in a V70 with a donor from an 850. I've gotten the old tailgate off, are there any tips on how to get the new door on ????? I had problems getting the old door off but the replacement is beyond me !

I left the hinges on the car and unbolted the tailgate from them, then I lifted it in place and put one bolt in each side attached the harness and the second bolts- it was a bit of a pain changing the lock as I miscounted the number of 10mm bolts but all in all pretty easy to do
