1999 V70 Driver side rearview mirror droops

Hi folks, I have an odd problem. The mirror on the driver side rearview mirror droops down. When I come out in the morning it is tilted down like it wants to look at the ground. The switch does not seem to be able to engage it to move it up and down but will shift it somewhat side to side. If I push it up manually by pressing the mirror near the top it will stay in place and the electric adjustments all work, up down, and side to side. Next morning, same thing. Any thoughts or suggestions as to what is wrong or how to fix it? Thanks.
