02 XC70 Front End Shake

Post by dale1volvo »

I have an 02 xc70 with 165k on it. It has a shake/vibration only on acceleration from 0. When you let go of the throttle it stops. It even feels very slight when accelerating from speeds over 30mph. The shake is very peculiar because the steering wheel doesnt shake at all and it doesnt seem like a hesitation shake because the car has plenty of power. I tried the drivers axle cause the cv boot was ripped but that changed nothing. Any ideas on what it could be.

I just had an alignment and new tires and am suffering from the same issue. Tire guy thought I had may possibly have an axle issue. reading a few posts it might be front wheel hub/bearing.
Just replaced the rear this summer.
Again it shakes a little when pulling away from a stop. . . Wierd thing, something is rubbing on the inside of my wheel, can't use wheel weights on the rim, had to use stickies. grinding a groove in the rim but cant find a rub mark. connected?

Characteristic of a bad CV joint. You could try swapping tires front for rear just to make sure that isn't the issue, but I doubt it is. That's exactly what mine was doing when the RH axle went bad.

Inspect upper and front lower engine mounts, and control arm bushings.
