I have a 2000 S80 (turbo). I recently saw oil leaking and had the car looked at. I was informed that because of some piston ring issue it creates an increased "blow-by" which causes hi pressure in the cylinders and pushes the dipstick out and blows out oil. The correction for this issue (I've ben told) is to replace all the piston rings. I have a tech. service bulletin on this procedure and been told that it is subject to a recall and should be covered under the cars warranty. Does anyone have any info. on this issue?
Thanks for the feedback.

When I read this, I thought the tech was crazy...never heard of such. However, I'm not that familiar with S80's. If it's under warranty and there's a bulletin on this (have them show you) and it will be free for you to have part of your engine renewed, by all means go for it. To be honest, this issue sounded very familiar to a clogged PCV system on 850's and later model S/V/XC/C70's and even S60's and not piston rings.
