99 volvo c70 2.3l manual: shut down problem
I have a 1999 volvo c70 2.3L t5 manual. My car was dieing on me so I changed the fuel filter (very dirty) and checked the fuel pump and tank (clean as a whistle). My car ran great for 3 days. Now it will shut down when hot and not restart. Today I ran some tests on it. It will idle fine as long as no electronics are on in the car and havc is off lights off. If I turn them all on which it is winter and night time. The car will die. As long as nothing is running, or on, I can drive. When it dies it just has no throttle. Lights on dash do not come on until engine gets to kill point at about 500 rpm and then everything fails. No check engine lights are on and no codes come up on scanner. What is the problem? Am I suddenly losing power due to bad battery or alternator? Is it a fuel pump issue? If I do not replay right away to u on here please call or text me at 9204209514 alejandro is my name. Thank you.

sounds like your alternator is going out. I would take it to autozone and have the charging system checked.

What Phil said; Electronic fuel systems need electrical power to operate the injectors, if the rest of the car hogs the alternator's output, the car won't run. In addition to alternator, check battery cables, B2 cable, etc. Lots of troubleshooting tips in the forum, search them

1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

The cables can look solid but be corroded where you can see. If they are original, they are likely part of the problem.
Also 3 years in winter for an eL-cheapo battery makes that suspect too. A single cell failure could drop your voltage below the value needed for ETS to work.

As everyone is saying... Usually when a owner says they turn on the accessories and the car will die is a sign the alternator is going out because that's what a alternator does, it powers your accessories. A battery is only there to start the car. If your still having trouble I would have the charging system checked for sure.

This stuff is really hard to troubleshoot without live voltage data, i.e. volt meter, live OBD2 tool, etc.
After 2 alternator replacements and a starter replacement, taking the "clean" positive battery able connection apart at the battery, scraping the invisible corrosion off of the multiple wires, I have had ZERO issues since (almost 12 months).
ALSO, A bad/dead battery CAN AND WILL cause your car to die in mid stroke.
