Blown fuses

Post by gtg737m »

I have a 1994 850 Turbo wagon and it has blown three 25amp fuses for the central lock system. As soon as I put a new fuse and try to lock the doors the fuse pops. I've noticed that the back door of my wagon doesn't lock with the keys if I try to lock it from the outside, it will only lock if I lock all the doors from the driver door. Is the back door supposed to lock from the outside if I use the keys or it only locks when all other doors are locked from the driver's door? My problem is either in the back door or the central lock system relay. Should I start by trying to fix the back door or changing the relay? I took off the cover from the back door and some of the clips broke. I remember reading hear that there is a a kit they sell to fix the cover and keep it from making noises as the car shakes. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I suspect a false ground or short somewhere...this one might be difficult to trouble shoot. The rear gate should lock with the "lock" button. Try your key to lock and unlock everything on the driver's door...do this twice and see if it makes a difference....but with a short, this may not help you.

My rear deck upper trim is broken also. The dealer has a kit for 18$. Metal plates and sheet medal screws. You will need to drill holes of course. You should not continue to replace the same blown fuses. You may ruin the wiring.
The locks are actuated by solenoids. A solenoid may be internally shorted or shorted to ground.

why dont you disconnect the electrical from the trunk and see if the fuses still blow?
