2004 xc90 T6 no passenger side rear lights after fuel pump r

Post by tessmerds »

Hi all, this is my first forum post ever so please let me know if I forget anything. I just tackled the common fuel pump leak issue on my 2004 XC90 T6 with 120,000 miles. As many may know to do this the hard part is getting to the pump. After installing the new pump I wanted to make sure that it was working before reassembling. In doing this I have triggered my SRS Air Bag warning light since the middle rear seat was not connected, not the issue and will have local dealer clear. The issue is now I do not have any right(pasenger rear) Lights. All front and left rear lights work, but I have zero right rear lights working. Checked relay, pulled side covers off again to make sure all connections are connected, and Checked fuses. I cannot figure out why this is happening. If one side works and the other does not than that rules out a relay...correct? Additionally I have an aftermarket trailer hitch installed from U Haul that was spliced in if that matters. What am I missing? What would make just one side not work? Please help as I don't want to pay the dealer over $125 an hour to track this problem. Thank You

Did you just look at connections, or press them together to ensure they're good?
I haven't been into this on mine yet, did you have to strain any harnesses getting the pump out? If not a fuse, I would suspect a bad connection or ground to that harness. (ignorant of model specifics)

1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Do you mean the exterior light on the right rear ? What all did you remove / disconnect in this procedure ? Does this xc have 3rd row seats ?
I assume you have checked the bulb(s) too ?

Did you get this resolved yet? I guess the trouble shooting would be to follow the harness back from the lights, checking for power at each connection, then looking for damaged wires or other symptoms in that link.
