I don't think 1998 cars have a vacuum line. Mine doesn't have one, nor does it have a connection for one.

MAP=Manifold Absolute Pressure
If you don't have a vacuum line going to map sensor,then it fits directly into intake manifold.
850,s,v,c,xc70 up to 2000 are practically the same cars with some minor changes mostly cosmetic.

It's really not a MAP sensor in the truest sense of the word in a 1998. It is a barometric pressure sensor according to what I have been able to find. It does not plug into the manifold or have vacuum lines. It has a violet colored plug which I unplugged, cleaned and hooked back up. The code has not returned since.
After my commute to work, I do now have a pending P0455 gross evap leak. Seems I can't win.

P0455 should not be a big deal.
It should be either j hose from charcoal canister in the front driver's wheel area or the hose in the rr wheel area.Could also be a tank ventilation valve.
I'm trying to figure out how the new codes appear one after another if they were not here before.
About Map sensor...usually when the car have Maf it doesn'have Map and vice versa.
But in a turbo engine everything is possible.Usually...10v n/a cars(they were not imported in U.S)have a map.
I don't have a turbo car so i'm not 100% sure about that barrometric sensor,but i still think that it must be connected to some vacuum line or directly to a manifold.How would it measure the pressure otherwise?

I have no idea why the new codes are showing up. I drove the car kind of hard this morning on the highway to see if it was maintaining boost (and it was!!!) and when I got to work I pulled the codes. Just the P0455 at this point. Maybe when I removed the intake pipe to plug in the rear O2 sensor I knocked something loose. The MAP issue is confusing. It apparently is more of an altitude sensor in the 1998 and from what I can find, it has very little actual impact on anything. From another site:
The 1998 S70/V70 line doesn't actually have a MAP sensor. There is a barometric sensor outside the engine just sort of hanging out under the hood and that's what will trip the CEL as a P0108 code. The sensor is used for altitude correction (the higher you are, the leaner the fuel map can be when you're off boost), but without it the engine is just going to default to assuming sea-level operation and leave the fueling maps alone. Some parts lists just call it the "altitude sensor."

A-ha.....that sensor is there to monitor a turbo behaviour and to change fuel map depending if turbo is boosting or not.To rich or lean the fuel map depending on boost.
Now i get it.From what i've read at the end of your previous post,it indeed can affect emissions and performance.If it's bad the car can behave like turbo isn't working.
It surely acts like some kind of Map sensor.
For P0455 fuel tank cap can also be a culprit.
Clear the code and see if it will come back.

I am going to do just that. I am going to get gas, clear the code and then drive it for a while. I am really very eager to drive this car. It is surprisingly fun and handles like a dream. It should be pretty fast too.
My '97 850 with 170hp is pretty fast.It runs just like 1st day i bought it.Bought it almost new back in 2000 with 69k km.
