You can buy a brand new harness here, for ~$400. Good deal, and probably better wiring than OEM, but I don't think it is necessary in your case.mhgreen wrote:I think I am going to look into acquiring a "new" engine wiring harness. There is a lot of deterioration on mine, and from my research this is a common issue from '85-'88
Did you peel back the wire loom/cover/whatchmacallit to look at the actual wires going to the injector connector in question?

No, I didn't want to mess with them more than I had to. I wrapped whatever was exposed in electrical tape and left them alone.mtd240 wrote:

Your injector resistance should be 16 ohms. Set your ohmeter to the closest setting without going over (mine, for example has 200, 2k, 20k, and 200k and I would thus choose 200), and put one probe on each injector terminal without letting them touch together.
Yes, the injectors can turn. Yes, this sounds like a connector issue. Perhaps you can find a connector at a junkyard and splice it in. But first, have you tried simply cleaning your terminals on both ends?

Just tested the fuel injectors. Each injector registered at 16.3 on the multimeter.rgk wrote:Your injector resistance should be 16 ohms. I have cleaned the terminals, yes. I am avoiding replacing the entire wiring harness, so I am interested in "simply" replacing the connectors themselves. That being said, I am not familiar with splicing, soldering, etc. This is where I would need some guidance.rgk wrote: Yes, the injectors can turn. Yes, this sounds like a connector issue. Great video. Thank you. I ordered replacement connectors on Ebay, and I plan to do this job soon. I was wondering… Is there a way to use the multimeter to test the connectors for resistance?

I replaced all the fuel injector connectors using heat shrink butt connectors. I now can move the connectors/wires and the car doesn't change it's idle or begin to run rough.

This was my first experience splicing, crimping, etc. I am glad I now have the tools and knowledge for future electrical work under the hood. Thank you all for the guidance here.
