2005 xc70 tranny fluid change interval
Re: 2005 xc70 tranny fluid change interval
I like to pull the drain plug on the transmission every other oil change, so every 15k miles or so. Drain about 3.8 qts and add the same. This keeps the fluid nice and fresh. Obviously if you notice that the trans is getting a little clunky, change the fluid asap.

can you do this without resetting the fluid counter?2008XC70 wrote:I like to pull the drain plug on the transmission every other oil change, so every 15k miles or so. If you have external ATF cooler and never step on pedal to the metal for a prolonged time - probably not. Otherwise transmission counts events when ATF was at 150C/300F for 3 minutes (that's too much for mineral-based oil IMO) and starts to reduce torque converter slippage after some point. This would mean less comfortable gears shifts and reduced performance overall.mrscullini wrote:can you do this without resetting the fluid counter?

thanks for all the input. next weekend is slated for some tlc on the vehicle. just want to make sure i have the process correct.
1. drain fluid, measuring the drained amount
2. fill fluid, matching the drained amount
3. reset the fluid counter using vida/dice
that's it, right?
btw, new to vida, can somebody point me to a procedure for resetting the fluid counter?
