94 850 radio trouble
94 850 radio trouble
So I finally bought my wife a new minivan and parked the 850 in the yard. After a few months sitting in the VERY cold winter I had to jump start it, of course. The radio asks for the security code which I enter correctly. It then makes a few noises and just sits there with the code still in the display. It doesn't give me the EEEE so I know I entered the right code. It won't power off with the button so I have to unplug it. I've tried another radio that I know works and the same thing happens. I've blown the 15A fuse number 7 a couple times in the process. I have added a factory amp under the heater core and haven't taken the time to bypass that yet. It worked fine when I parked it and now I have a buyer that wants the car. Any ideas? Thanks!

The EEEE typically means that the CD button on the radio has been pressed and that there is no CD changer hooked up to it. When it needs a code it says Code.

It also does that when you enter the wrong code. I tried it to see what happened. And yes, I know a short will cause a fuse to blow. I was wondering what might go bad from a dead battery. Even when the fuse doesn't pop the radio takes the correct code, does what sounds like its self test, and then just sits there with the code in the display forever.

I'd suggest unplugging the radio and finding out what's blowing
the all those fuses before getting too wrapped up about tunes.
Just plugging and unplugging an OEM HU shouldn't cause that.
Flat batteries don't ruin components and make them blow
fuses either. It sounds like you have another issue.
