Yeah Chris,,I found it..Under both floor pieces.Have to remove all the flooring in the rear, and then ya can get too the access panel..I see that there is already a big hose clamp on the big arse ring..lol..So I guess it's been done before.I dont think the factory put a hose clamp around that large plastic housing,,do you?..lol

I will update when I get the pump out and test it...

Thanks again for your timely replies.

UPDATE.
Pump verified "DEAD" draws 10 amps of current and no sound at all...

Wierd thu,I cant see the factory "soldering" the connections on the pump..Maybe someone before I got the car had a problem.Or mayve that "IS" the way Volvo did it.Just seems a labor intensive way o connect it to the power leads.

Like to never got the thing out, cause the wires arent very long, and as I noted,no way to disconnect them,so I will solder the new one in also..I guess.

Wife is on the way to pick up new pump.$90 at the Zone. Also looks as if the screen must come with it,I dont see anyway to remove it on this one.Oh and the screen is ripped,,so maybe it was going to die anyway, even if she hadnt ran out of gas...

Will update in a bit.

I seem to be having a problem getting the retaining ring back on the tank opening !
The pump housing I'll call it does seem to be seated all the way down..But I cant get the retaining ring to catch the threads..

Any idea's?

Now I do have that rubber gasket,i'll call it,all on the inside of the opening,so thats not holding it up any,(that was a job to get it all on the inside of the opening).

Looking back often today for replies.I wonder,,if the retaining ring isnt tight, will that cause it to not start? Like is the system preasureized?

There seems to be 2 steps to the seal..Do both steps go down into the tank opening? If so,,,what is the trick to get the second and last step of the seal into the opening?

I hope someone is listening today.lol

Yes, I am listening.

The system is not pressurised like the newer cars so it should start and run. However, there is a possibility of fumes coming into the car if the ring is not tight enough. That is not very pleasant and could be dangerous.

I can only think that the new seal is thicker than the old one. I don't know about the two steps you mention as the last one I fitted, several years ago, was just a seal that lay between the plate and the tank.

All I can suggest is that you get someone to exert downward pressure on the plate while you turn it.

Thanks for the reply Bill.
I got it,What I had to do was simple realy, should have done it in the first place.I took a small "All" and while applying light preasure,I went around the seal's second step, and kinda assited it in going in.Once I did that,,It went right down...
On another note, the pump manufacturer's instrucktions forhooking up the pump wires was just reverse of what it should have been.So my pump was pushing instead of pulling,as in reverse.I am lucky that I didnt damae it by running it backwards..All fitted and installed again.Runs like a champ now...

Thank All who replied to my post's.I am out of the dark now...

Very good service community you have hear..
Thank You ALL
