2010 V70 New Power Operated Tailgate Module required

Post by pierremcalpine »

Hi,
My power-operated tailgate close button recently stopped working. In addition, in the same timeframe, I replaced my rear dome light only to have it burn out two weeks later. In addition, I've been receiving the "rear position lamp failure" warning every once in a while but no lights are out (except for the dome light!).

Volvo has diagnosed this as a faulty POT module and has suggested a full replacement and software download for a whopping $900!

Having fiddled with my V40's CEM to correct the common headlight relay issue, I'm tempted to determine whether or not one or more components on the POT module could be replaced to fix the issue at a more reasonable cost. Has anyone here experimented with their POT module? For that matter, has anyone had similar issues with a cheaper resolution?

There are tail light bulbs on the tailgate(position lamps), dome light for cargo area, and POT switch all in the wiring harness from tailgate to body.
Broken wires they could explain all your issues.
I assume the tailgate will raise with no problem with dash switch, remote, or by opening tailgate manually

Thanks, Jimmy. I will check that next...once the weather warms up, that is. Yes, you are correct. Everything else is working as expected (dash button, auto-open with latch, remote, etc).
