Did some searching around and there didn't seem to be a definite answer on whether or not you needed the extra wiring harness for the 02 front and rears sensors on my volvo 850 normally aspirated car? Whats the reason?

thoughts?

thanks!

What extra wiring?

Yes, you need both front and rear 02 sensors.

Bosch 0 258 005 097 front o2
Bosch 0 258 005 062 rear o2

Those are oem Bosch o2 sensors and they are direct fit.No need for extra wiring.

I believe that extra harness length was for moving the plug to a better place to avoid water or dirt ingress. It came with my front sensor, but I never used it.

From IPD`s website.
Product Description
Some 1996 & 1997 850 models may require extra length for oxygen sensor. Volvo changed second sensor location to after the catalyst to prevent contamination of the sensor.

I also have a '97.

You don't need extra harness.O2 sensors are all you need.

Ok, but as i was looking at the pictures for the 02 sensor (from the link above), I'm wondering if that connection is the correct one?

When looking at the wiring harness (also from the link above), it has a different connection (with a red piece in it)

Those connectors with"red piece" in it are just extensions.
You have "red piece" connectors under the hood and your o2 sensors are allready connected to them.

Hey Misha,

Thank you for your help all these years.
My 97 850 N/A runs great. Are these O2 sensor number still true for ordering? I will go with NO harness.
