98 V70-XC Auto lock lights

Lights Do not flash with auto lock, Alarm light not on, Interior lights no dim out or come on. Can anyone tell witch relay controls lights. When lights flash with lock everything works. Can not make this happen. when ever it wants. Now nothing works. Love to have the int lights come on with entry. Int lights come on with key on but do not fade off. Please help me . Driving me crazy. Andy

It sounds like a bad door switch rather than the relay. On the wagons the tailgate is the usual suspect and often the problem is in the wire harness at the point where it flexes at the hinge. Unless all of the doors have sent back a confirmation that they are closed the alarm will not arm.

Ok thanks, the problem is the running lights don't flash when i lock the doors. It locks just fine.
Int lights do not come on and dim off. All lights do work manually. Thanks.

The lights flash to confirm that the alarm is armed. If the alarm isn't armed then they won't flash nor will the LED on the dash panel and the doors must all be closed and report as being closed and locked in order for the alarm to go to the armed stage.

The wires that lock the doors are different from the wires that signal that the door is indeed closed and locked.

Yes I believe I have. This has been going on for 3 to 4 months now. Sometime they work, sometimes nnot.cant seem to make it happen. Now nothing at all. No light flash. Nor does the interior lights work in the door mode.no on or dim off. ???????? I'm lost.

Oxark, do you know where the wires go that sends the signal to check for continuity. Or how to identify then on a wire diagram .? thanks again for your help

OK, I tried to wade through the schematics this evening and the set for the '98 models is missing copious portions. There may be more there but it isn't easily found. You are welcome to download them and dig a little deeper yourself. The schematics are here:

The wire colors in question are White/Black, Yellow/Brown, Green/White, Yellow/White, and from what appears to be the tailgate, Blue/Brown.

Those wires go to ground when the door is closed and locked and they are part of the wiring from each individual door latch assembly.
