ECT needs to be ohm spec'ed as a function of temperature...what is its part number?

Either your wiring harness (connector) is the issue, or ECT.

I use electronic contact cleaner, and spray on connector's terminals, then let dry, then apply di-electric grease onto ECT's terminals and connector's terminals...end of problems.

I purchased the one that is installed now from NAPA .. not sure of the part number or manufacture. I did use contact cleaner on the connector. Do you feel it is the new ECT?

I just searched high and low for a receipt with no luck. The NAPA i deal with is most times dead on getting the correct part. It is the black sensor and looks just like the old one ... if it was defective my cooling fan would act up also ..true? Wish i had a part number for you .. do you think beings it is a aftermarket sensor it is causing trouble?

I remembered something and went back to look. Echlin TS5520 Coolant Temp Sensor from NAPA has a black connector and is a replacement for Bosch 0 280 130 026, but it does not work with LH2.4. It is used on Alfa Romeo, GEO, BMW, Kia, Datsun, Ferrari, Fiat, -89 Volvo, and many more. It works with LH2.2.

So they list that part number for 94 940 turbo and its not a correct part.. unreal.

Thank you again for your time in helping. I hope the Bosch sensor gets here on monday and we will see what happens... i just hope running that NAPA sensor doesnt harm the ecu .

Do you know must about the TPS circuit on this car? I am curious if at idle is it a closed circuit or open.

I will post more after I get the Bosch installed.

Closed loop happens after the engine reaches operating temp. But with the wrong temp sensor the ECU won't know what the temp is and will go with a preset temp so it will stay in open loop. The idle control valve corrects idle speed at all temps.

Echlin TS5566 would be the correct sensor for your car.

What I meant by closed circuit is I noticed while adjusting the base idle is the TPS switch when it clicked off closed to open throttle had continuity between outside pin and center pin .. when the throttle is closed there is no continuity between any of the pins on the TPS. ... is that normal ?

I know I didn't have to use the meter to set base idle but I was curious of the operation of the switch ... so when it showed no continuity at closed throttle I got to wondering if it was operating correctly. I cannot find any information on this ..
