1999 V70 Stalling, 143k

Post by TheBigRed »

Four days ago my car started having problems finding the gears and stalling at slow speeds when slowing down for traffic, red lights, stop signs, corners. Scary. Started the car but it would rev up and down and engine would shut before I could put it in gear. Checked with the mechanic and checked the transmission fluid. Needed to be topped off. I had it topped off today. Car is finding gears and did not stall on my drive back home from work. I will update if the car keeps stalling ( meaning the transmission was not the cause).

I've read the postings in the etm room but am not sure if this is the problem and they are not cheap. What other things should I be looking at? I have a bad abs module that causes intermitent abs light and lose of speedo. Is this contributing to the stalling?
Does the car have a CEL light on? If so, what are the codes? Most auto parts stores will read them for free. Get the codes and come back here.

If you are seeking help, it would be best if you started your own thread.

Magically split.

Transmission isn't the issue most likely.

Have a look at your Electronic Throttle body for a White or yellow label. You are about due for a new one if it's a white label.

Don't disconnect the MAF while running, unplug with car switched off, then try it. You will get a check engine light on after this. You can clear that with either a code reader, AZ visit, or battery disconnect and wait 15 minutes. Have your radio code handy for the last one.
