97 850R Odometer gear, not standard problem
While trying to fix my odometer I found that the small gear that normally needs to be replaced was in OK shape. What I found was that with the motor and the gears that attach to the motor shaft removed, I still couldn't roll the main odometer forward. I can roll it back, but not forward. Upon disassembly, it appears the clear gear that goes next to the ones position shown below is damaged. Anyone know where I can get one of these gears? Or if you have an odometer that has a good gear in question that you want to get rid of please let me know.

Only solution I can think of, since this is not one of the popular ones that break, is to take the time, and go to your salvage yard, and get one from there. It is going to take time for sure, but they are going to charge next to nothing for an old odometer. Just make sure they like you, and do not charge you more, or tell you that now that you removed they cannot sell the the dashboard etc etc.
