No, the trans in the 2.5T is very good, built by Aisin Warner.
The T6 trans is the problematic one!

A lesson on exhaust is to stick with OE spec - use and replace gasket, clamps, nuts, and bolts often as maintenance items.

Introducing third party pipe connectors, adapter, and clamps shortens intent to last. Welding is not the way to assemble Volvo exhaust - else it fits the mantra penny wise and pound foolish.

Our cross country is problem free for this reason. But 850 has MIDAS fingerprint on it since 2002 -- always something is rusting and falling off.

I was looking at it earlier but it says only for FWD. Someone else had mentioned it would be different for the AWD, it won't fit because of the AWD system. can someone confirm this?

Thanks

It would fit mine which is AWD! The VOLVO site I use only offers one, doesn't specify drive. http://www.jimellisvolvoparts.com/showA ... evel=20445

It will fit either model!

Now, let's say that a VOLVO OEM muffler will outlast this one. Okay, it may. For the cost, you can replace the Walker muffler 4 times for the cost of an OEM. I see no benefit to spending the extra $400.00. No way in the world is that OEM part much if any better than an aftermarket!

In my experience dealing with aftermarket catalytic, muffler etc. for my BMWs, Volvos etc. nothing beats the quality of OEM stuff, the aftermarket stuff don't even come near.
However dealer pricing is about 3x aftermarket stuff, so you need to make your own decisions what to do.

Price up a quality stainless steel muffler first before comparing ANY muffler with a Volvo one.

Of course if you only want to keep a car 2-3 years and pass on a rusty muffler to another buyer that's another story.

Netasp--
Did you go through with the FWD Walker muffler on Rockauto? I'm curious to see if it fit because the Walker folks are adamant that its FWD only.

No, I read it somewhere that it won't fit the AWD model without modification but I can't confirm. I have to take the car to my mechanic and see what he thinks, if not then I will have to spend almost $1000 to replace it as the Muffler alone causes around $800...

If you find alternative to OEM please let us know...

What you don't want it welded on to fit and hung, such will be the case with aftermarket. Stella = walker, beware.

Volvo aluminum alloy would be clamped at cat and hung at designate hangers. Zero circus at midas or likes.

A welded adapter would barley last more than a year againts salted roads.

You would think that the aftermarket companies would have the muffler for the AWD cars as well considering most of them are AWD. In fact I've never seen a FWD xc90 in person.
