2004 v70 Constant "tailgate open" message

I have a constant "tailgate open" message. Here is the deal, everything I think could be associated works. The tailgate locks, and unlocks, with the remote. The only thing that does not work is that the alarm does not arm.

Is my best bet just to begin opening things up and look at the wires for breaks. Is there anything else on the same circuit?

That was the first thing to fail in my tailgate do to damaged wiring in the LH hinge. It went down hill from there......

Faust - nicely covered in the link above - this wiring problem happens on both P2 and P80 cars incidentally.

The link has the wiring diagram as well!
