92 740 Turbo Wagon Antenna Mast

Post by Dalpatine »

Alright,

I am wanting to replace the stationary antenna the previous owner installed after the retractable antenna broke. The motor still works when the switch on the dash is operated and I ordered the replacement antenna from iPd. However I am noticing some differences in the diagram from their online instructions and what I am seeing in my wagon. For instance I'm not seeing a ground wire or the relay shown on the instructions. I am thinking that this might be because the instructions in the PDF file are for the sedan version and the wagon layout might be a little different. I want to make sure I do this right so I don't mess anything up. Any tips or explanations for the differences I am seeing? Is it because the instructions are for a sedan instead of a wagon? If so it shouldn't be a big deal. Looking at it I think the relay and ground wire would be the black box shown on the pic below. Let me know if I am completely off.

Here is what I see:

When I swapped a newer power antenna into my 1988 Volvo 760 Turbo wagon I had to swap some of the electrical parts from the old antenna.

I did not feel confident in removing the trim so I am having a local shop do it at my next servicing.

The clips holding the corner trim piece are most likely going to break, whether you do it yourself or someone else does it.
