P0115 is an engine coolant temperature sensor code. It isn't a huge deal to change it if is in fact is bad but standard operating procedure is to change the thermostat at the same time since it is right there.

Typically with a bad ECT sensor the gauge doesn't go to its normal 3:00 position and the car can be difficult to start. The fuel economy suffers as well.

The sensor is a bit pricey for the OEM but OEM is what you should use. Before changing it though check the connector to make sure it isn't corroded or loose. The connector plugs in just behind the power steering pump.

+1 on Lee's tip to check the connector. If you're lucky, it is just badly corroded and a shot of contact cleaner and some dielectric grease may have you back on your way. I don't have that kind of luck, but some do.

What is the code number? Most oxygen sensor codes are not due to a bad oxygen sensor.

Some people have managed with the Bosch Universal but the splice box is known to cause problems. The Beck Arnley and other aftermarket brands never seem to work properly though. I believe the OEM brand is a Bosch sensor for the 1999 ME-7 system but that should be checked for accuracy. In 1999 some models started using Denso sensors but I think that was exclusively for use with the Denso ECU.

In either case get the OEM equivalent with the OEM style plug. It is unusual for the sensor to fail completely that quickly.
