1998 Volve S70 T5 Coolant Leak

Post by sendres »

My 1998 S75 T5 has developed a coolant leak under the engine. I jacked up the passenger side of the car and was able to get some photos and a video of the leakage.

Video is posted at

I see a hose clamp near the top middle of the images. It appears, as best i can tell, that this is where the leak is located. Can anyone confirm if this is the probable cause?

I am pretty sure the coolant line for the turbo is in that area and does leak. If I remember right, also fun to replace.
Should be two. Not expensive from what I recall.

Now that you mention it, I do see a second hose and hose clamp immediately behind the first one. I'm looking for a schematic to try to confirm that those are the turbo hoses, and also to find the part numbers.

Those are turbo coolant lines, replace them all while you are in there, totally worth it to buy them from Volvo. These are simple hose replacement jobs (unscrew, remove, replace) but this topic has been discussed (beaten to death) in the forum and there is a lot of good info available, e.g. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?t=55306.

Go to volvowebstore.com and you should be able to find a schematic pretty easily.

Thanks for the video links! I had just come across those myself and was coming here to add them to the discussion, only to see rspi had beaten me to the punch!

By the way, I leaned the guy who makes those videos has been working through some tough times personally. There's a page set up to help him out if you're able to spare a buck or two:

And in the spirit of giving thanks, let me say how grateful I am to all of you for your time and advice. I appreciate it!
