Hello again abscate and JRL,

I greatly appreciate your informational reply. This is my only car and i need it for very important trips so i have to make sure it is ready for inspection.

abscate, Do you think you could tell me how to go about getting this 'state' information?
Thanks again.

JRL: what state is that if you dont mind me asking?
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

I had the same issue here in Ontario where 4 or 5 systems were not ready. I checked the last emission report and in that too it showed that it passed with the same systems not ready, so I took it in and it passed.

A week after and with a little more driving, all systems were finally ready. In other words, it takes some time for the systems to be ready on our cars, however it may be that the emission testing here in Ontario knows that these systems on Volvos take a while and don't give a hard time for it

Same story here with 96 850. Found info for texas, took to smog station, they searched California Bulletins and let me take the test.

Hi,

Thanks to both of you for those comments.

charleg:
When you say, "(they) let me take the test", what test are you talking about?
Do you mean they have their own test they do, other than what the car itself tells us through the ODB2 connector?

You will have to google the individual state DMV agency and look at emissions testing in NJ. I believe NJ does follow the EPA rule do if you can get it down to 2 monitors not ready and CEL off, you should pass.

I have a local indie that I discussed this with him before I brought the car in.
